Also did the LED light setup on the downdraft table. Added my old AC/Delco box to it.
That holds all the combustion chamber CC tools.

Modified a roll around cart to hold all the air dye grinder tools.
Decided on a cart to make it more mobile, since I have a cylinder head bench and also an intake manifold bench..
That old Weider weight rack sure came in handy...

Since I won't be going to the track until cooler weather comes , I have done this re-do of my little garage .
I had just stuffed my things in there , using some of the previous owners set up , bench wise etc . That was 29 yrs ago . So bit by bit it all piled up .

So this is where I am now . I demo'd a large bench / cabinet in the back , tore down my Concrete block and board shelving etc .
Everything in there was moved 2-3 times . I am a skinny , 76 yr. old person , but by golly I did it .
I tried several different locations for things like engines , sheet metal etc , so that added to the moves . I also discarded ( via setting it out by the street with a " free" sign for recycle guys to scarf up ) about 1100 lbs of various metal and other things . I also was able to finally liberate the side door which was never functional before , and installed a new one .

Deep-N-Hock shop progress...
Summer is here. Hot and humid. Shop walls and ceilings are now insulated.
But the doors. Just cheap steel stampings..
Looked hard at Bill Van Alstyne's shop doors.. Looked at with green envy.
Watched numerous YouTube video's... Then got to work.
Bought 3/4" foam boards from Lowe's. Cut and fit them into the panels in two layers. Brick staggered the joints.
Got a roll of white Gorilla tape and taped the single seam in each panel.
Didn't add much weight to the doors. Didn't even have to adjust the spring(s)..

Door and window trim...
Worked a deal with an old friend at the local metal fab shop. Asked them to shear and brake some aluminum diamond plate scraps.
Using them as trim.

Shop Floor Space conundrum...
Downsizing shops has its challenges. Too much stuff, not enough floor space.
In the quest to fit it all in... Combined my grinder tool cart and the (old) die grinder tool cart.
Emptied them out and took the base(s) off.



Took 4" off of each leg....



Trimmed 4" off the legs and fit the new 'upper' to the old 'lower'.
Bolted it all together. Rearranged the drawer contents.



Put the bigger, heavier 110v hand tools in the bottom tray. Put the lighter 110v hand tools in the middle tray.
Put the grinders on the open lid rack, and the clamps in the tray in the top.

Cained some floor space... Woohoo!

Have a real nice air compressor. (came with the house)
It pushes so much water into the lines I have spray coming out of the die grinders.
Doing heads and intakes has become a water park experience.
Decided to bite the bullet and add a refrigerant air dryer to dry things up.
Built a shelf to mount the unit next to the air compressor out in the 'pump room'.



Have some plumbing to do. Need a manifold so the dryer can be bypassed, if desired.



Still have to finish up the in shop plumbing and the dryer wiring...

Wrap up on this project....
Yeah... Kind of anal about this, but this is a long term item, so I wanted it to be the best it could be done.
Plumbed in the refrigerant air dryer... That went OK.
Installed a Stemco 'spitter valve' to auto drain the air tank.


Had to add a 1/4" copper line to the unloader valve.
(I bought what I needed... Whew! Measured too close )


Since this is a small shop, a small air line kit was used...

Had these neat line holders that were designed for PVC pipe. Liked the single screw mount concept.
But they were meant for a lager diameter pipe. Cut short pieces of heater hose as a spacer.
Worked good. Looks dumb, but serves the purpose.
Pitched the wall lines so any condensation will drain down to an easy to get to collection point.


The furthes terminator was the highest point. It goes to an overhead hose reel.
Had an extra gauge, so it was mounted in the block. Just a tattle tale...
Blocks get mounted on one side to a wall stud.

Finished up the shop air system.
Added a water separator/oilr combo for the grinder cart.



Have been running it hard for three straight days now.
Serviced all the die grinders.. Couple are on death's door.
The air is so nice and clean.

Also finished up the shop vac setup with the cyclonic chineseum dust separator to pull the cast oron dust out of the port.
You can see the adapter gizmo for the vac hose, complete with a hole in it for the LED reading lamp that throws light into the port.



The octagonal plate works real nice for easy head positioning.
I can set the head, and do all the port 'floors' in that position. Rotate it and do all the next port 'floors'
Easy to be methodical this way.



Downdraft table works nice. Except for a little cast iron dust right under my feet...
Most of the crap gets on my arms and lap.
