Bought a 64 R4779 with a 500" Cadillac partly installed. Hardly a bolt tight and all kinds of Mickey Mouse things done to it. Jack Vines asked me to check the rear end to see what it had in it. It has a Dana 70HD with 4.56 and TT. Will put up some pics. when Photobucket quits acting up.

Yes that is 2 alternators stacked on top of each other. [/URL]
Alan either got the buy of the century or the ultimate can of worms. That Avanti has tremendous potential, but because of the way the PO had gone in six directions at once, it's impossible to know what's in there. We await further developments.
Looks to be a TH400/GearVendors overdrive. How on earth did that fit in the X-member?
A conversation with Alan on his new project purchase, he said like so much of what was done to this car, a hole was made through the X-member, without much skill or science. It's the ultimate kit car; many interesting and high dollar parts, much assembly required.

Those Gear Vendor OD's are nice, does it really need it?
Yes, with 4.56 gears, the Cad would be spinning too fast on the highway.
However, since Avanti are inherently traction-limited, it's doubtful one could hook well enough to benefit from the 4.56s. Only a test with the 4.56 versus 3.54 would determine the benefits.
Looks like fun, with some of the hard work already finished.
You will love that O/D setup, especially when you learn to split gears.
Sort of like rubbing your tummy and patting your head..

Jeff, I sold the OD to Jack Vines. I am now putting a TKO 600 behind it. Only thing hanging me up is Titan Oil Pumps has taken 15 months and $1,100 and I still haven't got my pump. I can't put the pan on till I get that pump.
