1969 Pontiac GTO Ram Air drag racing 1963 Studebaker Avanti supercharged.

The Pontiac GTO has a Ram Air III 400 V8. The Avanti a 289 V8 with a factor Paxton Supercharger putting out 6 psi. The GTO has 366 horsepower, while the Avanti was rated 289 horsepower. The Studebaker Avanti has a Borg-Warner 3-speed automatic transmission. The GTO has a 4-speed manual transmission. The Pontiac GTO weighs-in at 3958 pounds with driver. The Avanti is coming in at 3708 pounds, driver included. The Avanti has 3.73 rear gears, and the GTO 3.90 rear gears. There were 6143 total 1969 Pontiac GTOs produced with the Ram Air III V8 and a manual transmission. In 1963 there were only 1552 Studebaker Avanti made with the R2 supercharged engine. Original testing for the Avanti was completed by Motor Trend in July 1962 and it ran 0-60 in 8 seconds and the 1/4 mile in 15.8 seconds @ 91 mph. The 1969 Pontiac GTO Ram Air was tested by Muscle Car Review and they found a 0-60 of 7.4 seconds and 1/4 mile in 14.1 seconds @ 98.2 m
