1961 hawk 289 ci cam specs
Hello everyone...Looking for cam factory specs on a 1961 289 motor.. I will try to get the cam lift tomorrow on the rebuilt engine I picked up over the wk-end. The owner does not have the build sheet, it was his dads build.. I will have some ideal what lift it has.. Take care all and thanks for your info!

Re: 1961 hawk 289 ci cam specs
Here is what I found about my installed cam..
Intake side lift .260 x 1.5 rocker= .390 lift,
Exhaust side .258 x 1.5 rocker = .387 lift.
So its higher then a stock cam..I have to find out what cam number/maker it is for all the information.. So what do you guy's think about it. Thanks again for all your input!

That's more than the stock cam lift, but less than most performance cams. IIRC, there was a Crower Special Studebaker grind with approximately that lift:
Crower E-32794 Special Studebaker grind
260 duration/.392” lift@.014” clearance
jack vines

Actual cam lift for stock cam should be .2668 (rounded off). To calculate valve lift you have to account for valve clearance. So (.2668*1.5)-.020 = 0.3802 valve lift.
